Scoville Memorial Library

Established in 1803, the Scoville Memorial Library was the first in the country open to the public free of charge. The library offers a fine collection of more than 35,000 reference, fiction and non-fiction books, 1000 videos, and 500 books on tape. If you need materials that are not in the immediate collection, the staff will assist you in getting what you need from other libraries.

The history room is a treasure trove of state and local history, genealogy information and oral histories. During the school year there are special events on the weekends and story hours for children during the week.
