Stream Monitoring Workshop

Sat., July 6
9:00 a.m. to noon
Meet at GMF’s Forestry Office,
201 Windrow Rd., Norfolk, CT

Tom Fahsbender, a 9 year volunteer with Connecticut’s Riffle Bioassessment by Volunteers (RBV) program, will lead this workshop. RBV is a volunteer water quality monitoring protocol developed and administered by the Connecticut DEEP Bureau of Water Protection & Land Reuse.
Tom will guide us in collecting and identifying invertebrates that live at the bottoms of the water habitat in order to determine brook health. We will be working in Tamarack Brook, near the GMF Forestry Office.
No experience is necessary, just a willingness to wade in streams and get wet! Dress appropriately and bring a change of clothes in case you need them.
Adults and children age 10 and up (accompanied by a parent or guardian) are welcome. Bring a drink and snack.
Meet at 9:00 a.m. at GMF’s forestry office, 201 Windrow Rd., Norfolk, CT.
