The Salisbury Fall Festival

Salisbury Fall Festival
October 6th – October 9th, 2017

Several cultures have ancient traditions that coincide with autumn.

Here in the Northwest Corner’s Historic villages of Lakeville and Salisbury is the 62nd Annual Salisbury Fall Festival, which continues to grow with each passing year. A favorite among local residents, this weekend-long festival draws visitors from surrounding towns and weekenders alike. Activities begin Friday morning and continue throughout Sunday evening, and there is truly something for everyone: rummage and book sales, pancake breakfasts, local artisans, food, music, kids activities, hayrides, pumpkin decorating, baked goods, special offerings/events at businesses throughout both villages…the list goes on.

In this year’s 17th Annual Scarecrow Contest, over 35 scarecrows will line the streets of Salisbury and Lakeville. Festival-goers are invited to vote for their favorite in three categories: Business, Group/Family, and Kids. The Boathouse Restaurant in Lakeville and The Salisbury General Store in Salisbury will serve as voting headquarters, with ballots and scarecrow maps available in each location.

New on the calendar this year, with the hope of becoming an annual event, is a 5K run sponsored by Housatonic Youth Services Bureau. Taking place Saturday, Oct 7, the race has a 9 am start time at the base of the Salisbury Ski Jump (Satre Hill). From there runners will head west down the scenic bike path before looping back to the Ski Jump for post-race refreshments. There is a suggested $10 donation and t-shirts for the first 50 entrants. Regular runners will know this as the event previously co-hosted by The Hotchkiss School.

An event unto itself, the Brew-Ski Fest, now in its 8th year, returns to Satre Hill on Sunday, October 8th. Viewed by many as the unofficial “closing ceremonies” for the Salisbury Fall Festival, Brew-Ski offers food, music and over 30 craft breweries sampling over 200 products, all to benefit the Salisbury Winter Sports Association.
