Amenia, New York

July 9th, 2020

A sprawling 43+ square miles of authentic rural roots, an approximate community of 4,000 residents, and a resounding passion to grow and embrace the historic past with a flair from the talents of today – Amenia is nostalgic; a place that generations will remember as the gateway that greeted their country retreat.

Amenia enjoys the backdrop of historic rolling farmland and the Ten Mile River, which meanders its way to Connecticut’s Housatonic River.  Restaurants, such as Serevan, Four Brothers Pizza, Monty’s Local Kitchen & Tap Room, Fudgy’s Ice Cream, Troutbeck, and Amenia Steakhouse make the town a lively hub of evening activities and locavore cuisine – as well as a convenient dining location, only minutes from Metro North’s Wassaic Station. The Four Brother’s Drive-In Theatre is open 7-days a week during the summer season and a local attraction, living up to its motto of being “a boutique cinema in pursuit of magic!”

Amenia is a growing community, with a recent resurgence of attention from those looking to build longlasting roots in the area. Silo Ridge Field Club joined the Amenia community offering a private 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf course. Troutbeck, “Where Emmerson, Thoreau, and Hemmingway once stayed” has also reopened its doors – offering an upscale Inn as well as a sophisticated and warm ambiance for dinner or drinks in its dining room or lounge/living areas – a place to step back in time and enjoy the exquisite architecture and relaxing atmosphere.

Amenia, NY – one of the first glimpses of the Hudson Valley as you enter the tri-state region along Route 22-north. The Amenia four-way intersection gives the option of turning right to Sharon, left to Millbrook, continuing straight toward Millerton, or just pausing to take a deep breathe and enjoy the slower pace – because no matter where you are headed, you are already “here”.
