Housatonic Heritage Walks

September 28th, 2017

According to superstition, catching falling leaves in autumn brings good luck.

Autumn in the tristate region is a favorite time for residents and visitors alike.  Enjoying the season can be as simple as taking a scenic drive along the Housatonic River or as involved as a day hike on the historic Appalachian Trail.

While the recent summerlike weather in the Tri-State Region may seem in contrast to the arrival of autumn last week, the telltale signs of the fall season are all around: crisp mornings, cool evenings, Katydids, and of course the quickly changing leaves.

Those seeking an autumnal excursion, but unsure of where to begin, need look no further than the 16th Annual Housatonic Heritage walks taking place Saturdays and Sundays through October 1st. Heritage Walks are guided tours that enable participants to explore our region’s rich historical, cultural and industrial history while enjoying all that the beauty of the season has to offer.
These family-friendly tours are perfect for all ages, and range in length from an hour to a full day. Scattered throughout Berkshire County, MA, and Litchfield County, Ct, activities range in scope from a guided canoe trip with the Housatonic Valley Association, to strolls through formal gardens and tours of historic estates.

A full schedule is also available under “Events” at www.HousatonicHeritage.org.
