Montgomery Lodge No. 13 will hold its first regular LOBSTER sale of the season on Saturday, June 16, from 4 to 6 PM at the Lodge at 41 Sharon Road in Lakeville. The 13th annual Tuesdays at Six lecture series sponsored by the Falls Village/Canaan Historical Society has announced its 2012 lecture series. These are the first two talks: June 19: "Who were those men of Iron?" presented by Friends of the Beckley Furnace committee members Ed Kirby, Geoff Brown, Dick Paddock and Fred Warner. June 26: "The Future of News" presented by Sandy Padwe, special lecturer at Columia University Graduate School of Journalism.

With the Fourth of July hitting on a Wednesday this year, the Salisbury Rotary Club Foundation and Lime Rock Park have decided to put on their annual fireworks extravaganza at Lime Rock park on Saturday, June 30 (rain date Sunday July 1). The park will open at 6 PM. Refreshment stands will be open on the grounds, and people are invited to bring their own picnic supplies. The fireworks light the night skies over the park at about 9 PM. Admission is $15 per vehicle, except buses. Walk-ins are $5 each. A family of five saves $10 driving in rather than walking onto the grounds. No pets are allowed. Proceeds from the event will go to local scholarships, community gifts to the Northwest Corner area and international service projects.

Everyone is welcome to Lake Wononscopomuc Association's Independence Boat Parade & Picnic on Sunday, July 1, at 12 Noon at the Town Grove in Lakeville. Decorate a boat, join the parade! There will be prizes by Peter Beck's Village Store, music by The Resilience Brass Band, face painting, and a petting zoo. There will be prizes for 3 categories: children, family, business. Boats (sail, paddle or motor up to 10 hp) up to 20 feet in length. All boaters must wear life jackets.

The Hotchkiss Summer Portals Chamber Music Series opens its ninth season on Monday, July 2, in the Esther Eastman Music Center's Katherine M. Elfers Hall. Pianist and Portals Chamber Music Program Artistic Diretor Melvin Chen will perform at 7:30 PM with the 2012 Portals resident quartet, including violinists Hye-Jin Kim an Tien-Hsin Cindy Wu, violist Peter Barsony and cellist Nicholas Canellakis.
